Well, since everybody else is doing it... Yep, it's the "Post your Works in Progress meme" again. (Coincidently enough, I've been wanting to post some of my unfinished stuff lately...)

Sadly though, I don't have that many WiPs to post, since I've already posted most of them in the past (and still haven't finished a lot of them, even though it's been years XP). So I decided to post larger sections, to make up for the lack of content.

September already? And it got so cold right away, too... (Not that I'm complaining; it's been a hot summer, and I hate heat.)

Anyways... Sorry I haven't been around; been playing a lot of video games lately: Lego Harry Potter (have a weakness for Lego games), Rock Band 2 (again)... But mostly I've been playing Dragon Age for the past month. (I haven't played a Bioware game in years, and since I've stopped playing WoW, I've needed a fantasy RPG fix of some sort. ;P)

In other news, I've decided to write something serious for the fe_contest challenge this month. ;P (Me, serious? With that prompt? Yep.) I was hoping to write something other than FE7, but I've already typed up the outline, so we'll see how well that goes...

Finished! :D This chapter was so much easier to write than the last one... It's a bit longer than the other chapters too; I may have to divide it into an epilogue.

I haven't finished a multi-part 'fic in forever; I'm so pleased with myself. ;) It's nowhere near NaNo length, of course, so I guess I'll work on my original fairy tale-like story next...

Another chapter done! :D The next one shouldn't be very long either, so hopefully I can get it done by the time the weekend is over.

I'm dying to post this story to FF.net, but am reluctant to do so... Apart from wanting to complete the story first, I'm worried about the reception it might get if I don't edit it well. (I've never posted to the Warcraft fandom before, and I'd like to think that the story might be well-recieved... But I'm also worried that the grammar Nazis and the game purists will rip it apart. >_<)

Finished another chapter of my WoW 'fic, only... Three more to go. ;P Jadaar and Asric finally show up in the story (that's assuming you know who they are XD).

Sorry I haven't been around lately. I've been in a bit of a blue funk for the last few months, as I have not been able to write to my own satisfaction, but hopefully I've finally gotten past that. :) *crosses fingers*

Been working on an original short story for the past few days. It's a bit of a fractured fairy tale (think of Princess Bride, but with less sophisticated humour ;P). I was hoping to finish it before November rolls around, but it's been a long while since I've written anything original (or anything really), so we'll see...

My informal NaNo project will probably be this WoW story I've referred to a few times. I've worked on it before, but it really hasn't gone anywhere since then, so I want to spend some real time on it, before I lose my nerve to write it. (I still think the concept is sound; I just need to stop overanalyzing the story and just write the damn thing... Then I can worry about the rest when it's done. ;) I doubt it will get anywhere near NaNo length, though...

(I think part of what was causing my writer's block was that I was trying to write my stories in order, rather than working on the parts I like first, like I do when I'm inspired. Working on parts of the story that I didn't feel inspired about made my writing feel laboured, and seem less fun... If I work on the parts that I like, at least I'll get some of the writing done, rather than none of it done... I'm weird that way. ;)P

An interesting discussion on writing fight scenes in Fire Emblem fanfics.

Although it degenerates into an argument about who's the better fantasy writer early on (which makes me LOL XD), there's some interesting tips in there; I also added in my two cents, although I don't know how useful my advice will be. ;P

I really do wish I could write more fight scenes; most of my writing is character driven, so I don't get the opportunity to do so (and it's hard to write an excuse for a one-on-one duel, which is what I prefer to write).

I think I can count on one hand the amount of fight scenes I've written (most of them short): a Linus vs. Raven duel which I still rather like; a gratuitous Matthew vs. Leila one; I guess that FE Western I put on hold had a few; and that Ranma one I did long ago (because skating martial arts also makes me LOL).

Anyways... I just need to write, in general. :/ I'm just not feeling inspired, lately...

In other news, it sounds like the second season of The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya is finally airing in Japan. <3 (Been looking forward to the anime version of The Disappearance of Haruhi Suzumiya for a long time now...)

I kind of want to write a locked door mystery with these two, now.

You see, there's a reclusive mage in Dalaran that's only reachable by a specific teleport spell... So I was thinking, what if he disappeared from his room one day, only to have a rogue teleport in as the other mages were trying to figure it out? And then Jadaar and Asric hear about the case, and try to solve the mystery so they can get their jobs back...

Methinks I've been watching too many mystery/crime shows lately (NCIS, Bones, Psych, etc.). :P

Or I could just try to write the smut that someone here suggested, because the UST is so there.

Um, at any rate... Working on an Ouran/Ranma 'fic at the moment. ^_^; (I'd be finishing it right now, but there's a chance I'd be interrupted while doing so, so it'll have to wait.)

Oh, and I also went back and tagged all my journal entries. XP They're pretty generic, but at least I won't have to go through all my entries if I want to find something, now...

*ahem* Anyways... Got a couple of story ideas I've been thinking about. Mostly involving my Fire Emblem Western AU...

For some time now, I've been thinking of writing a couple of side stories in the Burning Brand universe (I was thinking of calling the series "Ridin' Side-Saddle" XD, but as I only have two solid plot ideas so far, I might just release them as separate stories).

"Lonesome Gunman" - A look into Erk's past, and how he became a hired gun. (No outline yet, but I just need to write it up...)

"A Night at the Saloon" - The guys of "Miss Lynette's Windrunners" have a night out at a saloon, to unwind a bit... But nothing ever goes as planned. (This would take place before Chapter 8 of Burning Brand, and therefore, would probably not be released before that time... Pity, 'cause I'm looking forward to writing it. ;)

And for something a little different, a regular FE story, with a holiday twist:

"The Holly and the Ivy" - Sain has a little fun with holiday foliage, at Kent's expense. (Warning for shonen-ai, but like most of my short pieces, it's supposed to be silly and light-hearted, and not to be taken seriously. ;)

The holiday piece will most likely be my next project, for obvious reasons... I'm also not sure when I'd write the side stories, as I'm still working on Burning Brand, at the moment. (Especially since I need to rework the battle scenario for the upcoming chapter... I have a sneaking suspicion that I won't be able to finish it till next year. XP)
