So I was looking up info on Star Wars: The Old Republic... Specifically, potential romances. (Yes, I know I'm a dork, but the characters I create will be dependent on the virtual ass I get to tap which companions I'll be interested in romancing.) Looks like I'll be playing a lot of female characters for a change, heh.

Anyways... I was looking through the list of romance-able companions (which incidently, also have a list of their voice actors), when a particular name caught my eye... Specifically, the VA for Torian Cadera, a potential romance for a female Bounty Hunter.

Torian's VA? Johnny Yong Bosch. (AKA the voice of numerous English dubbed anime heroes, but most notably, Ichigo Kurosaki from Bleach.)

...So basically, I get a chance to romance Ichigo. Excuse me for a moment...

I'm sorry, I just find that hysterical for some reason. XD (His SWTOR character even has orange hair, LOL!)

I'm bored and haven't updated in a while, so I decided to post a few thoughts on random cartoons. As you might've noticed, I have a soft spot for all animation, whether it be anime, CGI, or just cartoons in general... (Be forewarned, I do get rather ranty in these.)

Rivalries in Pokemon Black & White )

Women in G.I. Joes: Renegades )

( My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic )

I have to admit it, I watched the new MLP to see what the fuss was a all about. Of course, the first episode I watched had ponies having slumber parties and makeovers, which was enough to make me want to change the channel after 30 seconds. ;P

But I gave it a second chance, and I must say, it is a refreshing change to see female cartoon characters who are female AND characters. (My favourite ponies? Applejack, Rarity and Fluttershy. ;D) Oh, and Twilight Sparkle reminds me a bit of FE8's Lute...

So I was looking to re-read a little Haruhi Suzumiya, so I could finish an old 'fic. (I always make a point of re-reading the source material, just to make sure I get something right.)

Much to my dismay, I find out that the translations for the light novel have been taken down, since it's now been licensed... Boo. (Not that I'm not grateful that it's been licensed, but it's still a minor annoyance.)

So instead, I decide to do some Googling on Haruhi; it's been a while since I've done so, after all... I then find out that the "Disappearance of Haruhi Suzumiya" (my favourite storyline in the series), was made into a movie several months ago.

This almost makes up for the somewhat half-assed second season... Almost. (Eight episodes of which were the same episode over and over, argh...)

Now, I'm not surprised that they made the Disappearance storyline into a movie; the suspense in the storyline is really well-done, IMO (and for the love of god, do not spoil yourself, if you're a fan of the series!)

Needless to say, I so want to see this now. >.< But all I can find is a subbed camera-rip (which would probably give me motion sickness); not to mention the translated DVD isn't out till December. Gah.

*fidgets impatiently*

Having posted my FE Contest entry, I'm now stuck in one of stages I'm usually in after writing something...

Avi's 3 stages of post-writing )

So I'm currently at Stage 2, self-loathing. XP Oddly enough, I still feel like writing at the moment, but nothing Fire Emblem-related (except maybe the Mary Sue challenge, and that isn't due for a while).

Story ideas: Dragon Age, Pokemon, Total Drama )

On the subject of Canadian fandoms, I saw Scott Pilgrim vs. The World a couple of weeks ago. A movie filmed in Toronto that's also set in Toronto? Yeah baby! (I didn't even realize that the movie was based on a Canadian comic, until later... So out of touch with my home country since I moved to the US, sigh.)

Very mild spoilers for Scott Pilgrim )

So yeah, I would recommend Scott Pilgrim to any video gamer, but you would have to keep in mind that the movie is indeed an odd mix of half indy-teen-romantic-comedy, and half video game hijinx. Still enjoyable, for what it's worth. ;)

Oh. Um. Wow.

Just read the latest FMA manga; can't wait to see how they resolve this. O_o

I must say, Fullmetal Alchemist has to have the most well-rounded plot I've ever read in a manga, IMO; no really drawn-out storylines, and every character introduced has been relevant in some way. I have a few minor quibbles, but overall, I've been very impressed. Can't wait to see how they end the manga (which is soon!)

Also, FMA: Brotherhood is debuting on Adult Swim this Saturday; I can't wait to see the new dub! (And on TV no less! :D)

I could go on what I really like (and don't like) about FMA, but I may save that for later. ;)

Sadly, I spent the evening watching the second season of Chi's Sweet Home (I was bored, okay?). I forgot how addictive those three-minute shorts are... Also, kitties. :3

It also reminded me that I should look up Nyan Koi! again... It's an anime/manga about a guy who breaks a cat shrine and is then cursed to help 100 cats, or he will be turned into a cat himself (oh, did I mention that the guy is allergic to cats?). Normally I'm not big on harem anime/manga, but I'd like to think that the talking kitties balance it out. ;3

*goes back to watching Chi's Sweet Home*

*watches new Pokemon anime opening* Wow, looks like Conway might (keyword: might) end up battling in the Sinnoh League championships? O_o Apparently, I wasn't aware how popular Conway was... And here I thought I was weird for liking him.

I haven't liked a Pokemon character this much in like... Ever. Well, I liked James well enough, but he's gotten a little more emo in the recent series (don't get me wrong, I like sensitive James, but I miss flaming gay silly crossdressing James as well ;). And I do like Conway a lot, despite the whole creepy underwater stalker moment (which almost crossed the line for me, but it only happened once, so I'm willing to ignore it XP).

Now I'm beginning to worry about my affinity for nerdy, stalkerish characters *cough*Lute*cough*... It probably says something about my own personality, as well. :P

On another Pokemon-related note, I have a sudden urge to look for Roark/Riley slash... Gah. -_-;

I know the storyline is called Endless Eight for a reason, but going for a fourth episode of repetition is getting ridiculous. >.< (Although, I'm beginning to understand why Yuki kind of rebels later in the series...)

Seriously, this story arc could've been resolved in 2 or 3 episodes! (The animation studio really likes screwing with the fans...)

Cut for spoilers )

At any rate, they better finish this arc in the next episode (so we can get to the Snowy Mountain arc, if not the Disappearance one, I don't care, just end it already XP)...

Wow, they got that new subbed episode up fast. O_o Didn't they just air it in Japan yesterday?

The new opening theme is pretty cute. And the accurate English sound effects (tap, stomp, etc.) amuse me greatly, for some reason. XD

This ep's storyline isn't my favourite from the series, but I shan't complain; it does have gratuitous Kyon and Itsuki in swim trunks. ;) They did end this storyline abruptly, though; I wonder if they plan on continuing it in the next ep? (And just a few more episodes to Disappearance, I can't wait!)

In other news, I really need to finish that Sain 'fic I've been working on all week. >_> I really need to stop distracting myself...

What are you wearing, Itsuki? You're going to trip over that skirt! At least Kyon is dressed in sexy sensible armour. (Why yes, I am a sucker for knights in armour, how did you guess? ;P) Haruhi's outfit is pretty ridiculous too... (Perplexity is right!)

In other news... Golden Sun for the DS. Professor Layton 2. Not to mention Gyakuten Kenji and the Pokemon Gold/Silver remakes... It's going to be a good year for the Nintendo DS. :D

Finally got to see the first episode of the new season of Haruhi Suzumiya! :D Looks like they're starting with the Tanabata storyline, although I've heard they're airing the new episodes interspersed with the old eps, corresponding with their original order in the light novels. I've also heard they're airing the Disappearance arc starting today, yay!

Mild spoilers for the episode, and speculation )

In other news, was out of town most of last week; was visiting family in SC. Got a bunch of DVDs that I might want to talk about later; also would like to do some writing, but we'll see...

Aw crap, I didn't realize tonight's first Bleach episode was the beginning of the Vizard/Arrancar arc... (It's pretty bad when even Adult Swim is making fun of how many filler episodes an anime has. XD) I stopped watching after the first ten minutes (assuming that it was filler), then forgot to change the channel back. >_<

Still, I can't believe I missed part of Uryu's semi-shirtless fight the new episode... Also, how is it possible that your daddy is actually hotter than you, Uryu? O_o *sighs, looks up ep 110 on the net*

And forget mod souls, the next ep needs more Uryu and Ryukken, LOL. ;)

Cut for mild Bleach spoilers )

Been reading the recent FMA manga... I forgot how awesome Roy and Riza are. <3 So glad my Warcraft characters are named after them, even though I don't necessarily live up to their namesakes. XD

Checking out the new FMA anime now... Going to need something new to watch now that the Tales of the Abyss anime is over. :( Like I mentioned to someone, the new FMA series may be restarting from the beginning, but at least it isn't endless filler like most anime, these days... >_>

*watching episode* Eee, Al! I missed you, too! <3 (I wonder if it's true that the English dub voices for Ed and Al will be the same, like the Japanese ones? 'Cause I love Al's voice, even though he may be grown up by now... ;)

EDIT: Cut for mild FMA anime spoilers )

Tales of the Abyss has been subbed again! :D *rushes off to watch* (It was so close to the end too, when it was dropped...)

Been playing Rock Band 2 on the Wii lately. I play the drums (I admit, I'm not the best, but I am getting better... Although we do play on Easy mode :P). My character (Aviatrix, of course) is currently wearing what I like to call a Gothic Lolita outfit (she looks like a skanky Mary Poppins XD).

I'm now soloing the drum challenges so I can unlock the Ultimate Goth Outfit (I'm not very goth myself, but I do like the occasional frilly costume ;).

Aw crud, they took Tales of the Abyss off of Crunchyroll? I know it's great that they can air stuff with permission now, but it means I have to get my online fix elsewhere, and I don't like downloading eps... Oh, well.

Cut for ToA anime spoilers )

Now, if you'll excuse me, I have a couple of ToA dub eps to catch up with... (There's an aviatrix in this ep, too! XD)

Ooo, the official dub of Ouran High School Host Club is out! It isn't too bad, either... Although I have to agree with everyone and say the dub of the opening theme is sung off-key (a bit of a shame too, since it's such a catchy song).

The male lead is being voiced by the guy who does the voice of Ed Elric from FMA (and it shows XD), but he still retains Tamaki's elegance and silliness, so that's good. And I do like Kyoya's voice (which is great, since he's my fave ;). Everyone else sounds fine so far, although the fact that I haven't watched the sub in a while might make me less biased...

Still, the very first episode is one of my favourites, and the dub made it as funny as I remember, which is a good sign. :) I'll have to look for the DVD release at some point...

EDIT: Augh, why do I keep thinking Kyoya sounds like Roy Mustang? O_o I know for a fact their voices aren't the same (in fact, Roy's VA does the voice of one of the other hosts), yet still... (Perhaps it's because Kyoya and Tamaki have a similar dynamic to Roy and Ed... XP)

I admit it. I have a soft spot for Chi's Sweet Home, a cute anime about a kitten who finds a home with a new family. My SO like to tease me that's it's targetted at little kids, but I can't help but like it, especially since I'm a cat lover... The show captures a lot of the little quirks that cat owners go through (which is why I think the series seems to be fairly popular with cat lovers ;).

Also, unlike a lot of the anime that I've been watching on Crunchyroll (Slayers Revolution, Antique Bakery, Junjou Romantica), subs get consistently released. (Granted, that's probably because each of the mini-episodes are only 3 minutes long, but they are released in batches, and there are over 100 episodes.)

Anyways, I just saw the final episode, which is touching and bittersweet (if in part because the other cat in the series reminds me of my cat who I recently lost. ;_;) Still, I definitely recommend this anime if you're a cat lover, and don't mind watching a cute anime to brighten your day. :)

There's a Kyo Kara Maoh OVA series? *squees*

I've consider this anime one of my guilty pleasures (along with Ouran High School Host Club). Besides, how can you not love an anime where the hero first gets sucked into another world through the toilet? XD

I've always enjoyed KKM because it takes several anime conventions, and turns it on its head: It's a magical girl/reverse harem anime, but with a hero instead of a heroine surrounded by bishonen (and there's actually a good explanation for this). It's also a medieval fantasy, but the hero is initially feared because he's a demon king; he even gets a "demonic" sword! And it pokes fun at all the shonen-ai conventions, without being very shonen-ai itself; it's played mostly for laughs, like a romantic comedy would.

Cut for character ranting, tl;dr )

At any rate, this is getting kind of long, so... I will say that I really like what I've seen of the KKM OVA so far. Those who've seen and liked the original series should enjoy it (plus, it's a teaser to yet another season, woo!) My only gripe is that the episodes are kind of aired out of order... Still, looking forward to seeing more! :D

Been watching Kyou Kara Maou on Youtube lately... I can see why the series is popular; it's got a lot of what I enjoy in an anime series: fantasy, comedy... (And the shonen-ai elements are a bonus. XD)

When Fandoms collide! )

EDIT: Heh, I guess I'm not the only one who noticed this connection... (It's nice to feel vindicated. XD)

Bleah. Why is it when I feel guilty about not doing updating this thing, I feel inclined to avoid it more? :P

Anyways... Not much happening over here. Did feel like writing a silly Christmas Fire Emblem piece last month, but never got around to it. (It probably didn't help that I got the idea while I was visiting my parents in Canada at the time, and had no computer access whatsoever.)

However, did get something interesting for Christmas: Dance Dance Revolution! XD I'm not sure what possessed my sweetie to buy it, but it's there, so I'm making use of it. (Made a resolution with myself to try and play it every day as my exercise regime, and shake some butter off my buns. ;) I'm still new to the game, so I'm only playing Light mode, but at least I can get an A with "Take a Look at Me Now".

Also, been watching Naruto on Cartoon Network, and although I enjoy watching it, I can't help but notice that a large percentage of the more recent episodes are an exact rehash of the previous ones. :/ Yeesh, it's worse than Dragon Ball Z! I really hope that aspect of the show improves with the next story arc...

Now, to play some catch up... *sigh*
