I probably won't be participating in the [livejournal.com profile] fe_contest "Vision" challenge, but I did type out my outline for the Mary Sue one today; I plan on writing the typical Mary Sue FE7 tactician 'fic, but a bit of a twist... I hope. (I won't go into details, since I don't want to spoil it.) Hopefully my story idea still counts as a Mary Sue...

(I'm still disappointed that I missed some of the earlier FE Contest challenges due to my computer needing repair; namely, the "Temper" and "Yield" challenges. Those might've given me the incentive to finish a couple of old story ideas, like the second chapter of my Carlyle 'fic for the former, and the Kent/Sain 'fic I'd been considering for forever, for the latter. Ah, well.)

On a related note, I've decided to play through FE6 finally. (I had started playing FE11 originally, since the new game is coming out, but killing off characters for the Gaiden chapters seems counterintuitive for an FE game. XP)

Anyways, I finished Chapter 8 of FE6 last night, and wow... Am I reminded how bad I am at Fire Emblem games. XP On the bright side, I'm getting more supports than I ever did on FE7 (which was like, practically none).

Current team:

Roy, Alan, Lance, Dieck, Thany, Chad, Lugh, Clarine, Rutger, Saul, Dorothy, Sue, Lilina

I'll probably pick up Geese eventually (desperately need an Axe user, and Lott wasn't impressing me), as well as Rei and Miredy when I get to them. (I'd like to use Thite as well, but I don't think I'll have room by then. :/)

I was debating switching Dieck with Oujay, but Dieck has been a decent tank so far; he's been my boss killer, since he's armed with the Armorslayer. (Lord knows everyone else has been barely able to scratch the last few bosses, despite their levels being mostly 10 and up. XP)

I had to bench Wolt, which is a shame, because I had been levelling him. But I wanted the Saul/Dorothy and Roy/Lilina supports, so... (Though now I regret picking up that Roy/Wolt support.) Speaking of which...

Current Supports:

Roy/Wolt C
Lott/Ward C
Saul/Dorothy C
Chad/Lugh C
Alan/Lance B

Yeah, I got the Lott/Ward support even though I never really used them in battle. :P (Like I said, been getting supports like mad, and I'm only at Chapter 8.)

BTW, I had forgotten how funny Saul/Dorothy's C support is. XD Saul's just like Sain (a skirtchaser), but without his principles. <3 (He's so a Miroku clone.)

I'm hoping to get the Dieck/Thany and Rutger/Clarine supports soon (though I do like Lance/Clarine's supports; perhaps I can get them to B, as well?). Actually, Clarine has a lot of nice support options, like Dorothy and Dieck.

Planned supports: (for personal reference)

Roy/Lilina A
Roy/Wolt C
(lots of options for that last C)

Alan/Lance A
Alan/Thite B (if I end up using Thite)

Saul/Dorothy A
Shin/Dorothy B (IF I switch Sue with Shin)

Dieck/Thany A
Dieck/Rutger B

Rutger/Clarine A
Lance/Clarine B

Chad/Lugh A
Lugh/Rei B
Chad/Rei B

Now, off to play that FE6 Gaiden chapter. :P (Probably.)

Dieck is AMAZING. :D The early bosses in this game are the worst, though, with their annoying evade and defense. In my experience only Roy or Dieck can do anything, and the latter more often than the former. (Rapiers are amazing, but not so much when the user's strength isn't quite up to par yet)

Geese is one of the better axe users in FE6. Lott can be decent, so can Ward, but overall they're pretty meh. I prefer Gonzales or Geese, they make pretty good tanks. Plus, Geese is hot.

You're right, I have been using both Dieck and Roy in the past few boss fights; though Roy did very little damage against that General in the last chapter, even with the Rapier. :/

BTW, the main reason I want to pick up Geese is because that he's a hot pirate. ;) Yay pirates! (Pity about Lott though, I rather liked him as a character.)

Poor Roy, inheriting his dad's problem of slow strength growth. :( And wtf is up with the chapter 8 boss?! I hate that guy, even magic can't do crap for damage to him.

♥ He's awesome. I love his recruitment chat with Roy.

Yeah, I sent Lugh up against that boss, since he can usually plow through armour knights like tissue paper. Against that guy? I'm pretty sure Lugh did less damage than Roy. XP (I won't even talk about how Alan and Lance fared...)

I'll be looking forward to Geese's recruitment chat then. :D (Been trying not spoil myself by re-reading stuff like supports before I actually get them.)

but Dieck has been a decent tank so far; he's been my boss killer

Dieck is one of the best units in the game. I've heard people say he's a game-breaker, and Rutger... I don't know what his bonuses with Clarine are like, but if they do to him what an A support with Dieck does... you will not be sorry. XD And Lugh~ <3

I had started playing FE11 originally, since the new game is coming out, but killing off characters for the Gaiden chapters seems counterintuitive for an FE game. XP

It feels really weird to purposely let characters die. I made it all the way to chapter fourteen before I couldn't take it anymore. :P But Horace was all I wanted, so.

Hmmm, I might get Dieck/Rutger to A support then; I tend to position both of them close together anyways.

(BTW, I just double-checked Dieck and Clarine's affinities, and they're both Thunder, so I would assume either of them would be a good support for Rutger. ;)

I always bench Dieck for Oujay, because it makes later chapters a little more challenging. I also use Fir instead of Rutger, but that's a little easier to do than... actually training Oujay. I also like using Wendy, because she becomes supertank after she promotes, and she fills the spot of axe user at the same time.

Apparently this is OMGWRONG. D: Maybe I just do FE wrong, but I always try to make my favorite characters work for me.

Nothing wrong with playing favourites, I do the same thing. :) For example, I was always very attached to Lyndis's Legion in FE7, and was reluctant to use any of the other characters but them. (I know Nino's good, but I prefer Erk, dammit...)

But I'll also admit that I am usually lazy, and would rather continue using the characters I'm given early on, since they're levelled up more. :P

I didn't realize Oujay was hard to train. :/ (I assumed Fir would be harder, since she starts at a lower level.) And I was never a big armour knight user, since I favour cavaliers. (I know knights are good tanks, but... So. Slow.)

I-I always use Wil over Rebecca (if I don't use them both). It's the Legion, man. The Legion. And Florina always kicks Farina's arse by the end anyway so- favorites are good? :D

Oujay has like, what, 7 atk and 4 def when you get him. And a 20% growth rate on that defense. I always wind up resetting because of him. =_= But he's pretty good once he starts getting up there because of his super str/spd.

Wheras Fir starts out with 9 str and 5 def, not to mention 13 spd, on hard mode. She dodges a lot more than Oujay, so it's easier to level her up against axe fighters during the chapter in which you recruit her. Because Oujay has a tendency to stand there and be all DURR.

Wendy actally has pretty decent speed for an armor knight. It might take a few levels to show since she's so... pathetic when you get her, but she turns out /amazing/ once the ball starts rolling. Some day if you're bored, you might try it out, haha. The only obstacle then is her low movement, but that's what boots are for!

/blah blah stats blah it's 4 AM blah this totally isn't the point of the conversation anyway xD;
