Finally got to see the first episode of the new season of Haruhi Suzumiya! :D Looks like they're starting with the Tanabata storyline, although I've heard they're airing the new episodes interspersed with the old eps, corresponding with their original order in the light novels. I've also heard they're airing the Disappearance arc starting today, yay!

They finally mentioned sliders in the anime! (In the light novel, when Kyon mentions no longer believing in beings such as aliens, time travellers and ESPers, sliders was also on that list, originally.) I'm surprised that some viewers didn't realize what a slider was (not the mini-burger >_>); a Slider is a dimensional traveller, and the term is from the 90s TV show with the same name (the fact that some people didn't recognize the reference, makes me feel old -_-;).

Now, since the SOS Brigade has members that fit each criteria (alien, time traveller, ESPer), the slider was always conspicuously missing from that list in the light novel; so popular theory is that the slider will either be Kyon himself, or that a new member will join who will fill the requirement (either theory has some basis in the novels). Personally, I'd prefer that Kyon stays as Everyman, since he's awesome the way he is (but I recall the writer wanting Kyon to be an ESPer originally, so we'll see)...

I'm also surprised that a lot of the viewers on YouTube thought Kyon calling himself John Smith was a Doctor Who reference (although I can understand the correlation); I just thought he was using it as a generic psuedonym, which fits with Kyon being only known by his nickname. ;P Besides, the light novels have been out long before both anime; unless the Doctor called himself John Smith in the old Who series, I doubt that it's a reference to the show...

Oh, and the chess reference at the end of the episode amuses me; the king is weak, and the queen has all the power, indeed. XD

In other news, was out of town most of last week; was visiting family in SC. Got a bunch of DVDs that I might want to talk about later; also would like to do some writing, but we'll see...

The slider (technically) has not shown up in the novels yet, so whether they appear eventually, remains to be seen. (And yes, the Haruhi series does tax the brain sometimes. ;)

I am so looking forward to the next batch of episodes... I've said it many times, but the Disappearance of Haruhi Suzumiya is what I'm looking forward to most in the new anime. :)
