Yeesh, it's been a week since I wrote an entry... -_-; Anyways, I've been meaning to post this drawing of an original character I did fairly recently, and am relatively proud of:

Cleaned it up a bit, but didn't bother to colour it yet. ^_^; This is a rough sketch of Pavel Petrov, an old Ranma character I created way back when; he's supposed to be an martial arts ice skater. (For a lengthy explanation, click here.)

What possessed me to draw this character, all of a sudden? It's the Chinese hook swords he wields, you see. ^_~ I saw those particular weapons being used in "Avatar: The Last Airbender" recently, and was reminded how cool they were (I believe I first saw them used in "Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon"). Also, the swords actually look like skate blades (which suit a martial arts ice skater, don't you think? ;)P

Anyways, the pose is from a photo I found of a woman wielding hook swords, which might be why the sketch looks a little more feminine than I'd like (Pavel is supposed to be male :/).

Hee, nice! You've got Takahashi's art style down cold.

I've only seen two episodes of that series, but when I saw that drawing I was still thinking "Hey, it's the hook swords that one guy had in Avatar!"

Nice drawing by the way! Although the arms look a little off. Like the right (Pavel's right) one seems a little short to me.

Yeah, I see what you mean about the arm. But the arm looked kind of short in the photo (http://www.choylifut.ca/cs/photos/2005_photos/category1075/picture776.aspx) I used as a reference... I think. (Haven't been in art class for so long; my foreshortening sucks... -_-;)
