Here it is, if you want to see it:

"Doubling Up"

by Avi

(Eliwood and his troops are stationed in Castle Ostia at the moment... The three Lords and the Tactician are currently seated in one of the castle's sitting rooms talking, when Merlinus enters.)

Eliwood: Ah, Merlinus... Have you finished buying supplies for the army?

Merlinus: Just about, sirs! I've got everything we need... Food, water, feed for the mounts, extra weaponry, and brand new tents for the troops.

Hector: Thank goodness... The old ones were on the leaky side...

Eliwood: Ha! A big guy like you, complaining about leaky tents...

Lyn: Oh, stop teasing him, Eliwood... How many tents did you buy, Merlinus?

Merlinus: Let me see... Exactly twenty-one of them, milady.

Tactician: Twenty-one? But there are forty people in this army!

Merlinus: Uh, I know madam, but these were such a steal... Plus, they're extra large and water-resistant. I just figured we all could... You know, double up. Two to a tent, that sort of thing...

Eliwood: Hmm... That's not such a bad idea...

Hector: Huh. I don't know...

Eliwood: Well, if you want to stay in your old, leaky tent...

Hector: (sighs) You've got me there, Eliwood.

Eliwood: Lady Tactician, would you mind writing up sleeping arrangements for the troops?

Tactician: (sighs) As you wish, milord.

(The Tactician is walking down the halls of Castle Ostia, when her path is blocked by Sain.)

Sain: Ah, Lady Tactician... Just the fair maiden I wished to see... Lady Lyndis has just informed me that the army is now to be paired off two to a tent, and that you are arranging this, is that correct?

Tactician: Yes, that's right.

Sain: Well, I would like to formally request that I be paired up with a lady. Any one will do...

Tactician: Ah... Sorry, Sain... I'm afraid I can't do that.

Sain: You wound me, milady! Surely you have placed a man and woman in a tent, together...

Tactician: Well, there's Lord Pent and Lady Louise...

Sain: There! You see!

Tactician: But Sain, they're married...

Sain: But that should matter not! I assure you, my intentions are completely pure...

Tactician: Sorry, Sain... It's for the moral integrity of the army.

Sain: Hmph... You've been talking to Kent again, haven't you...?

Tactician: Well... I suppose if you really want to stay with a lady, you could always share a tent with me...

Sain: Why, Lady Tactician! Is that a proposition?

Tactician: Actually... No. I was hoping that would put you off... Goodbye, Sain. (Edges around him and walks off.)

Sain: Hey, you weren't serious, were you, milady? Lady Tactician? Lady Tactician!

(The Tactician has just reached her rooms when notices Kent waiting at her door.)

Tactician: Hello, Kent. No, wait... Let me guess... This is about the new sleeping arrangements, isn't it?

Kent: How... How did you know?

Tactician: (sighs) Call it a lucky guess. What's on your mind, Kent?

Kent: Well... I might as well just come out and say it... Did you put me in a tent with Sain?

Tactician: Why, yes. Why? Is there something wrong with that?

Kent: Well, no, not really... Except that he keeps on trying to sneak women into his tent, late at night.

Tactician: Well, I was hoping having you in the same tent might curb that that impulse, Kent...

Kent: Yes, well, but... He keeps on encouraging me to... Join in. (blushes)

Tactician: ...

Kent: (pleads) Isn't there anyone else you could pair me up with?

Tactician: Well... There's always Marcus, I suppose... I have him and Lowen sharing a tent, but if you really want to stay with someone else...

Kent: Marcus?

(Flashback to earlier that morning:)

Marcus: Do you call that a push up, Lowen? A true knight of Pharae can do a hundred push ups in the morning, while in full armour, and in the pouring rain! Start over again!

Lowen: Yessir! Right away, sir!

(Back to the present:)

Kent: Ah... On second thought, perhaps I will stay with Sain...

Tactician: Yes, I thought you might.

(Eliwood's army has now moved out and is setting up camp in a wooded area. The largest of the new tents is now set up... Within it, the three Lords are standing around the Tactician, who is seated at a camp desk.)

Eliwood: Have you finished the new sleeping arrangements for the troops, Lady Tactician?

Tactician: I have them right here, sir. (unrolls a scroll) I assume you don't mind sharing a tent with Lord Hector, Lord Eliwood?

Eliwood: Of course not... Even though he snores abominably.

Hector: I do not!

Lyn: You do. My tent was at the other side of the encampment, and I could still hear you snore.

(Hector hmphs and storms out of the tent.)

Lyn: Oops. I think I've hurt his feelings...

Eliwood: I'll go check on him. (Walks out of the tent, as Lyn calls after him.)

Lyn: Apologize to him for me, will you, Eliwood?

Tactician: Um, Lady Lyndis? Back to the matter at hand... I hope you don't mind, but I placed you in a tent with myself...

Lyn: Oh, I don't mind at all! It'll be just like old times! Oh... Wait. I think Florina had her heart set on sharing a tent with me...

Tactician: Yes, I realized that... However, I just figured that Florina might want to share a tent with one of her sisters, instead... Probably Fiora.

Lyn: Hmm... You have a point there. How about Farina?

Tactician: (checks scroll) I have her placed with Isadora.

Lyn: Isadora? That's an odd choice...

Tactician: (shrugs) I figure she's the only person who Farina hasn't told how much she's worth.

Lyn: (laughs) I surprised you didn't let Isadora share a tent with Harken...

Tactician: Shh! Don't let Sain hear you say that! He's already disappointed his bunkmate isn't a lady...

Lyn: So, who did you put Harken with?

Tactician: Matthew.

Lyn: Matthew? Why not Guy? At least they know each other...

Tactician: Uh, I think Matthew is trying to blackmail Guy... And I don't think Matthew will try messing with Harken.

Lyn: And Guy?

Tactician: I have him sharing a tent with Rath. I figured since they're both Sacean, like you, they should get along...

Lyn: Uh... I don't know... Why don't you put Guy with Wil?

Tactician: But I already placed Wil with Raven. I've seen them talking together, so at least they know each other... (Lyn gives her a certain look.)

Tactician: No?

Lyn: No.

Tactician: All right then... I'll put Wil with Guy, and Rath with Raven. How does that sound?

Lyn: Perfect.

Oh, and here are the rest of the tent arrangements, in case you're curious:

Erk Lucius
Dorcas Bartre
Canas Merlinus
Wallace Oswin
Dart Hawkeye
Legault Jaffar
Serra Priscilla
Rebecca Nino
Heath Vaida
Athos Nils

And yes, I had reasons for most of these pairings... (Mostly similar classes, but that's still a reason, isn't it...? ^_~)

You can probably see why I abandoned this story... (It's written in script form, for one thing, since I wrote it early on in my Fire Emblem fandom... Plus, the female tactician's in it. -_-;)

XD Erk/Lucius. Before I decided Raven/Lucius was my yaoi OTP for the game I considered pairing them off. XD XD And I'm always wondering, how would Priscilla and Serra get along? There's this concept that Serra would be really bitchy and snobby to Priscilla or start a catfight with her over Erk...why can I imagine Priscilla sticking up for Serra when Erk says she's annoying? ^_^;;;

I like the Nino/Rebecca and Heath/Vaida ones. XD

Yeah, the gag I was going to use for Lucius and Erk sharing the same tent was pretty much Erk thinking he was sharing his tent with a girl, until Lucius turned around. ^_^; As for Heath and Vaida (since there are no opposite sex pairings apart from Pent/Louise), apparently, there was no one else willing to share a tent with Vaida... XD

Hmmm... You've probably got a point about Priscilla and Serra... Now I'm recalling about how Serra won't allow other cute girls around her (like in the case of Lucius ^_~).

For some reason I can see Erk being entranced by Lucius's looks and wondering "does this make me gay?". XD

I rather like the Vaida/Heath pairing myself. Their A support made me smile because Heath was worrying about her and she was so sure of herself...Vaida and Legault are my favorite pairing choices for Heath. XD

As for Serra and Priscilla...for some reason I can see Priscilla sort of sizing Serra up rather quickly. Not like "I magically have you all figured out!", more like "I get the feeling you're overcompensating here". Priscilla seems like the understanding type who would sooner get to know a person than hate them...kind of like Lucius.
