Spent the past few weekends watching a couple of animated movies, and playing video games with a friend. The other weekend we saw the new Alice in Wonderland, and this week, we saw How to Train Your Dragon, then watched Nine on DVD.

Alice in Wonderland was okay... I wasn't too enthused to see it (not a big Tim Burton fan), but it was better than I thought it would be, even though it reminded me of Narnia in terms of the talking animals, and Alice being turned into more of a hero-type character.

How to Train Your Dragon, on the other hand, was awesome. :D Didn't see that in 3-D either, but it didn't suffer from that; the visuals were stunning, and enjoyed the story (apparently, dragons are just big kittens at heart XD). Also, the vikings' voices kept reminding me of the dwarves from Warcraft with their Scottish brogues (the blacksmith in particular reminded me of Brann Bonzebeard ;P).

Nine was also okay... Kind of a depressing ending, though (though kind of to be expected, from a post-apocalyptic sort of world). And we kept on ripping on the title character for being incompetent. :/

So in short, I highly recommend seeing How to Train Your Dragon, especially if you're a fan of dragons kitties fantasy action/adventure like I am. ;)

Also played Arkham Asylum (finally!) and Uncharted 2 on PS3 recently. Arkham Asylum was every bit as enjoyable as I thought it would be (yay, Batman: the Animated Series voices!), although we didn't get to play it for very long... As for Uncharted 2...

Uncharted 2 was surprisingly entertaining as well; definitely got flashbacks to the third Indiana Jones movie while playing it (and the Lego Indiana Jones game, oddly enough). There were some entertaining deaths as well; one mistimed jump led to the lead character yelling "CRAAAAAAAAAAAP!!" all the way down (which was made doubly funny because that's something we'd often yell while losing video games XD).

And as my friend pointed out, I kept on making snarky comments just before the lead character would say the exact same thing:

(After finishing a ridiculous jumping puzzle including rotating bells, giant gears, absurdly narrow beams, switches and god knows what else):

Me: Finally!
Lead character: Finally!

After playing that game, I keep on wanting to find handholds in the most absurd places. Who needs stairs anyways? ;P

Fun fact--my favourite actor (see icon) VAed one of the Vikings, Spitelout. Probably in his natural accent, if you're saying they're all Scottish. /doooooork
