A meme I thought up, out of boredom... (Fire Emblem-centric, 'cause I'm that much of a fangirl. ;)P Just post your answers in the comments... Please?

1. Where did your username come from? Does it mean anything specific? (If your username is your real life name, you can disregard this question. XD)

2. When did you get into the Fire Emblem fandom?

3. What inspired you to start writing/drawing/whatever for FE fandom?

My username is inspired from my first major fandom, TaleSpin. (If you both remember AND like that cartoon, I will love you forever. ^_~) It's the pseudonym I assumed when I first got onto the 'Net, though I generally just go by Avi these days... Obviously, an aviatrix is a female pilot. (Oh, and 8 is my favourite number.)

I first got into the Fire Emblem fandom... Wow, it must've been sometime in December. 0_o I joined the GameFAQs FE message board at the time (when it was still worth going to, way before the board split ruined it XP). I started writing for Fire Emblem when someone on the board expressed a desire to see a Sain/Lucius support, so I obliged; that in turn inspired a few more fake supports from me, a couple of other stories, and some mediocre art, as well.

I fell out of the fandom unwillingly sometime in March, when I lost my 'Net connection due to moving... When I finally got it back in mid-July, I discovered the new message board for FESS, and realized my love for Fire Emblem hadn't waned a bit. ^_~ So I started writing for FE again, and even started this LJ because of it.

Hope I didn't bore you all to tears... I'll be interested to see what everyone else's replies are (assuming I get any at all ;)P.

I slowly devised the pen name "Sara Jaye" for myself a few years ago...the "chan" I just stuck there cause at the time I thought it sounded cool. :P

2. When did you get into the Fire Emblem fandom?

Last spring. Admittedly, I wanted to play because 2 friends were so into it and I wanted to see what all the hype was about. >.>;;; But even if it wasn't for them I would've gotten into it some way or another. I love RPGs. ^_^

3. What inspired you to start writing/drawing/whatever for FE fandom?

I dunno, really...I just got a couple random ideas after I started getting really attached to the characters.

Rosa Aquafire is actually the name of the main character in my book. Aquafire`s a title not a last name. I was trying to sign up for ... GameFAQs, I think it was, ages ago, and, like, EVERY name I had even the vaguest interest in was taken. I was fuming and then just said "Okay, FINE. I`ll be Rosa!! That will NEVER be taken!!" I`ve gotten kinda used to being called Rosa Aquafire over the years, it`s one of those handles that gets stuck to you like a second name :) So I couldn`t get rid of it even if I wanted.

(You know somethings bizarre when cell phone ads come in your actual physical mailbox address to "Rosa Aquafire" at your address XDDD)

2. 2. When did you get into the Fire Emblem fandom?

Hmmm. About ... the beginning of last spring. I`d been kind of interested before, Phil owned a cartridge for Manshou no Nazo, but I`d only played the first three levels, and my Japanese had been really sucky at the time, it was like over a year and a half ago, so I got only the vaguest plot points. Phil bought Rekka in its American realese, I wasn`t really interested at all, but I asked to borrow it. I got kinda stuck on it as I went along, and joined FESS the day I beat it, which served to suck me in.

Started played Seisen not long after so I could understand what Iris and Summer were talking about all the time XD From there, I played Fuuin, Manshou, and Seima. Still haven`t played Thracia, I`m saving it for when my Japanese is good enough I can get everything ^_^ (Although now there`s a translation being worked on, so it was kind of pointless XD)

Well, Raven and Lucius` suports interested me ... but I never actually wrote anything until after I got both Raven and Lucius and Raven and Priscilla`s supports. I went "O_o Dude ... she WANTS him! O_o" I was intrigued, and, at school, supposed to be working on a paper, I sat down and typed up Only Human, instead. And I was stuck :p

My username comes from an injoke a group of friends and I had. We each had to pick anime "sound effects" or expressions we would be. A friend picked squik (the sound of a marker writing), another friend picked *blinkblink*, a third picked Kittymouth (you know, how characters get kitty-like mouths when they're smug), and I picked Dot-dot-dot. We goofed around with our named and I ended up with Empress Dotdotdot, Dots for short. There you go.

2. When did you get into the Fire Emblem fandom?

Late April of this year. Fire Emblem was a birthday gift, and I liked it from the start.

3. What inspired you to start writing/drawing/whatever for FE fandom?

The first thing that inspired me were the Kent/Lyn supports, because I am an absolute SUCKER for lines like "Let me stay by your side" or "let me protect you" or anything like that. I wrote a piece (The Duty of a Knight) before I was even to Valor game-wise, had Vyctori canon-check it, and posted it.

What I think REALLY suckered me in, however, was the infamous incident in Chapter 18. I watched Matthew's reaction and thought "He has a sad/serious face. I've seen it when I've accidentally killed him. So why is he smiling?!" "Smile" followed and I was suckered in for good.

Well, my original choice was going to be "Destiny" (boy, am I glad I didn't pick that), but one of my friends at the time already had chosen it. So while I was trying to think of something else, the word "Victory" kept on sticking in my head. Eventually, I gave in and grabbed it. However, when another friend was signing me up for a messageboard, Victory had already been taken, so she switched the i and the y around. Hence my first name.

My online middle name, Skye, comes from the fact that I think it's really pretty. That's it. ^^;

The last name, Windheart, comes from a Tamora Pierce book I had been reading at the time--The Realms of the Gods. There was a dragon in it called Rainbow Windheart, and I thought the last name sounded SO amazing, so I snatched it.

Thus...Vyctori Skye Windheart. ^_^

2. When did you get into the Fire Emblem fandom?

Actually, I ALMOST got into the FE fandom approximately three years ago now. I had just bought Super Smash Bros Melee, and I really liked Marth and Roy from the little their character profiles showed. So I started doing research; I met [livejournal.com profile] kyuusei then and we chatted a bit. I even bought the FE1 OAV. But I didn't even know what ROMs were at the time, so my interest kinda went into hibernation. It sprang right up again the second I heard the news of Rekka no Ken's English release, though, and hasn't died since. ^_^

3. What inspired you to start writing/drawing/whatever for FE fandom?

Well, I always write/draw/whatever (:P) for my latest obsession, so it was sort of a given. M'first fic was a Sain-centric humour one-shot, because he was and still remains one of my absolute favourite FE7 characters (and considering the large number of major characters in Rekka no Ken, that's not too shabby).

Yeah, I'm a big RPG player, too... Though I tend to prefer old-school SNES or the recent GBA games rather than PC ones. (Although, FE counts more as a strategy game rather than an RPG. ^_~)

Hmmm... For some reason, I always pegged you as a longtime FE fan, like Iris and Summer; then again, I should've known better, considering the apparent uproar when you became an admin at FESS... -_-;

Oh, and I didn't realize "Only Human" was your first FE fic, Rosa; excellent story, BTW. ^_^

Hey, it's nice to know that I'm not the only one who's a sucker for the "loyal protector" dynamic. ^_~ And for some reason, I always got the impression that Vyctori dragged you into FE fandom (er, no offense, Vyctori! ^_^;).

BTW, I love "Smile"; I have it listed as one of my favourites on FF.net. ^_~

Heh... I also got a near brush with FE fandom a while back... A couple years ago, my sweetie's college friends stopped by for a visit during Spring Break, and along with them, they brought their GameCube, along with Pikmin 2... And SSBM. ^_~ I never played it myself, but I can remember the weeklong gaming fest... They hadn't unlocked Roy and Marth at the point, though, and I kind of wonder now what might've happened if they had... XD

Hmmm, I've always considered most of the FE characters to be minor players, rather than major ones, apart from the lords; since they're only defined by their supports and the short conversations you get when they join your party. (Or maybe I think that since I almost always write about minor characters, rather than major ones. ^_^;)

I'll have to say, this meme turned out more interesting than I thought... Finding out the stories behind everyone's usernames has been enlightening as well. (And yes, I'm making it a point of replying to everyone. ^_~)

I`ve always kind of felt the same ... although I find that Ninian and Nilus also count as major characters. ^^;
Thursday, November 18th, 2004 08:48 pm (UTC)
Most do :p It`s because I never consider the first I played in a series the best, most people tag when people got into the fandom by which their favorite is, after all.

In fact, I`ve yet to play a game series where the first I played has been my favorite ... hmmmmm.

Actually, you've got a point there; since they are the only other characters (apart from the lords) who appear in more than one piece of official art. ^_~

Florina does, too, and Heath, but they`re so tiny on them, they don`t count, exactly :p

Ninian and Nilus are basically Lord type characters. They can`t die, if they get mortally wounded, they don`t leave your party, and they appear in over 65% of story parts. :D

(Not to mention I love them :3)
