A while back, my sweetie and I were tossing around conspiracy theories after reading Half-Blood Prince. After reading a recent post on

fanficrants, I was reminded of one of my more outlandish ones...

At the time, my sweetie postulated that Lily and Snape may have been a couple at one point, and I laughed in his face. But as I thought about it, I realized it might be a viable pairing (key words: "might be" :P), but it got me thinking... What if Snape and Petunia used to be a couple?

We know that Snape is a half-blood, after reading HBP. Maybe he and Petunia knew each other, in mundane life? Perhaps even Snape even had a thing for her? :P

But if Petunia found out that Snape was a wizard, she'd probably loathe him for it (considering her prejudice towards magic, from her jealousy of her sister's powers). And if she rejected him because of this... Well, yet another reason for him to hate anyone related to the Potters.

Well, it occurred to me today that, assuming that Snape had a thing for Petunia, and he kept track of her all this time, then... Snape would've known where Dumbledore had hidden Harry the whole time.

And that's what would make Dumbledore trust Snape without question... If he was truly still a Death Eater, then he could've told Voldemort where Harry was, all along.

Okay, I know that's making a lot of assumptions, and I'm sure you could poke a ton of holes in my argument, but... That's my current conspiracy theory, and I'm sticking to it. ;)P

(Oh, and I obviously believe Snape can still be trusted, even though he killed Dumbledore and all... ;)P
